This effective advisory board provides informed guidance and serves as a tremendous ally in the quest to bring the Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs to the next level. The Alliance Advisory Board provides support and resources for the 128 Club Locations in LA County in their mission to serve their club members.
JACK RINGQUIST – Chairman

Jack brings over 30 years’ experience assisting senior executives and their leadership teams improve the effectiveness and performance of their organizations and operations across the globe. Jack specializes in strategy, planning, and implementation of large scale business transformation and information technology for companies in the consumer products industry. Jack has delivered improved business results for his clients in the areas of sales and marketing, supply chain, information technology, human resources, and finance.
Jack is currently the Global Leader for Deloitte’s Consumer Products industry practice and directly serves Deloitte clients as a Lead Client Service Partner and Senior Advisory Partner. In his client service role, Jack is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality and high value services across Deloitte’s businesses, providing leadership to teams serving clients around the world, and growing Deloitte’s overall relationship with senior executives. Jack has served many recognized and admired consumer brands including Cadbury, Coca Cola, Herbalife, Mattel and Nestlé.
In addition to directly serving clients, Jack leads Deloitte’s relationship with The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF). CGF is the global industry association for CEOs of manufacturers and retailers of consumer goods. Under Jack’s leadership, Deloitte is the advisor to one of CGF’s four strategic pillars, Health & Wellness, and produces CGF’s annual Health & Wellness progress report. Jack is also the primary author of Deloitte’s annual Global Powers of Consumer Products, a primary research platform for charting the evolution of trends and players in the industry. This research is translated into multiple languages and shared with industry executives and press throughout the world.
Jack joined Deloitte Consulting in 1994. He is a former Deloitte Regional Leader, a Global Consulting Industry Leader, and member of Deloitte’s Partner/Principal peering and compensation committees. Jack also contributes to a number of advisory committees focusing on market strategy, talent development, and eminence.
Prior to Deloitte, Jack was a senior manager with Accenture specializing in business and technology transformation. Jack holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information and Computer Science from the University of California. Jack and his wife, Vickie, both born and raised in Los Angeles, reside in Granada Hills, California, with their two children, Alex and Anna, and their three dogs, Sammy, Kingston and Scotty.
TERRI HERNANDEZ ROSALES
Vice President, Communications and Community Affairs NBC4
Terri Hernandez Rosales joined NBCUniversal in 2011 as Vice President of Communications and Community Affairs at NBC4 Southern California. With more than 20 years of corporate and agency public relations experience, her work is well noted for creating international campaigns using her unique blend of strategic communications and corporate philanthropy. At NBC4, Hernandez Rosales leads the long-term strategy of the station’s community investment and charitable efforts, and also oversees the public relations plans for all external affairs in the greater Southern California region.
Hernandez Rosales career includes held a number of progressive communications positions at Nissan North America, Inc. There, she developed strategic communications initiatives designed to increase the automaker’s visibility among stakeholders worldwide, managed its corporate image nationally, and led many highly visible media and cause-related marketing campaigns. Hernandez Rosales also served two years as a board member and administrator for the Nissan Foundation. During her tenure, she led the communications counsel to Nissan’s former president and Chief Executive Officer on President Clinton’s panel on Race Relations in the United States. She also held a vice president position for Los Angeles Universal Preschool initiative where she designed and launched a multi-level public awareness campaign that brought national attention and lauded as one of the most successful in the early education arena.
Hernandez Rosales began her career at Fleishman-Hillard International where she specialized in crisis communications, consumer marketing and media relations. In this position, Hernandez Rosales led communications programs for a variety of blue-chip clients, including Levi Strauss & Co., Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc., Nestle, Avery Dennison and the California Milk Advisory Council.
Hernandez Rosales is a member of the Public Relations Society of
America. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards and accolades for her work, including two Golden Mike Awards for NBC4’s Public Affairs shows. She also is a recipient of the prestigious Silver Anvil award from the National Public Relations Society of America. The Los Angeles Public Communicator bestowed the Communications Excellence Award to her twice. And the Inside PR-Merit Award recognized her work for Multicultural Communications for a marketing campaign for the California Milk Advisory Board.
She’s the immediate-past chairperson of the American Heart Association’s 2015 Go Red For Women campaign, a board member of the Southern California Leadership Network, the Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs and is on the Hispanic Scholarship Fund’s Advisory Committee.
Hernandez Rosales is a graduate of the Center for Creative Leadership, and pursued her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the California State University, Los Angeles.
She is married, has two children, three dogs and a cat. She enjoys cooking, international travel, fashion and skiing.

Matt Kanny is the Chair of Manatt’s Litigation Division and a member of the firm’s Executive and Compensation Committees. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, class action defense, antitrust and trade regulation, unfair competition and false advertising matters, and entertainment litigation.
Mr. Kanny represents clients in federal and state courts and in arbitration proceedings throughout the country. He is actively involved in all phases of litigation, from pre-litigation counseling through trial and appeal. Mr. Kanny also provides strategic advice to clients in connection with a variety of legal and regulatory matters and has extensive experience representing clients in enforcement actions involving District Attorneys, Attorneys General, the Department of Justice and others.
Mr. Kanny’s clients include leading companies in the automotive, retail, biotech, real estate, entertainment, technology and Internet industries.
Mr. Kanny has served as lead counsel in a number of complex civil and putative class action matters across the United States. The following is a sample of his notable cases:
Obtained a statewide injunction on behalf of a major retailer against union groups following an eight day evidentiary hearing in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The injunction enjoined defendants from entering inside the retailer’s stores to engage in specific labor-related activities.
Represented a manufacturer of digital televisions in a complex patent infringement and antitrust case in the District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Plaintiffs asserted infringement of their “standard essential patents” for the ATSC digital television broadcast standard; our client counterclaimed for antitrust violations under Section and Section 2 of the Sherman Act based upon the plaintiffs’ failure to license the patents on fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory (“FRAND”) terms.
Represented a manufacturer of sheet metal automobile parts against claims of predatory pricing in violation of Section 2 of the Sherman Act and Ohio law and false advertising in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. District court granted summary judgment in favor of our client on the antitrust claims and substantially limited potential damages on the false advertising claim.
Represented a manufacturer of aftermarket auto lights in defense of an antitrust putative class actions involving an alleged conspiracy to fix prices in violation of Section 1 of the Sherman Act brought by direct purchasers in the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Represented a manufacturer of aftermarket auto lights in defense of predatory and below cost pricing and antitrust claims filed in the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Represented a major retailer in a putative class action filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court alleging that the retailer violated California’s recycling act in connection with the retailer’s advertising and refund policies. Trial court granted retailer’s summary judgment motion; affirmed on appeal.
Represented a major retailer in a putative class action alleging that the plaintiff had the constitutional right to engage in expressive activities on the retailer’s private property. Trial court granted retailer’s summary judgment motion; affirmed on appeal.
Represented a record distributor in a copyright infringement action in the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. Obtained defense verdict on behalf of record distributor on copyright infringement and unfair competition claims.
Represented a record distributor in a putative class action filed under California’s unfair competition law alleging false advertising and fraudulent business practices relating to the manufacture and sale of CDs in California. Case dismissed after distributor filed summary judgment and sanctions motions.

As Director of Public Affairs for the last 33 years, Teresa has help grow the community affairs department and the Station’s involvement in the community. As director, she oversees community media initiatives and station partnerships. She works closely with many nonprofit organizations, corporations and advertising clients to develop and implement projects which benefit the viewers and the communities that the Station serves within the five county coverage area.
Teresa has been instrumental in the development of campaigns such as ABC7 and the Southland Firefighters Spark of Love Toy Drive, which helps collect toys for underserved children; Kid Healthy, a diabetes and obesity prevention program for children; PrepareSoCal, a year-round emergency preparedness initiative; Feed SoCAL, a hunger initiative to address the regional banks food shortage during the summer months.
Teresa also oversees the partnerships with the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Revlon Run/Walk for Women, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Orange County, AIDS Walk Los Angeles, and “Walk Now for Autism Speaks.” The Los Angeles County Alliance for the Boys and Girls Clubs – “Youth of the Year Awards”.
Teresa’s commitment to the community extends beyond her career. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Coalition, the Glendale Chamber of Commerce and several advisory boards.
Throughout her career, Teresa has received many honors, awards and commendations for her dedication and commitment to the community. Some of her awards include: Woman of the Year from The Glendale Chamber of Commerce, the Life Saving Award from the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles, the Public Service Spirit Award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association, the Ruben Salazar Award from the Community Coalition, All of the Love of Kids Award from the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, and the Community Service Award from the Los Angeles Commission on Assaults Against Women. Teresa Samaniego joined ABC7 as part of the Sales Team in 1979, and in the summer of 1982, she established the Public Affairs Department at ABC7.
Teresa is the proud mother of two grown sons and three granddaughters.

ALLAN C. YOUNG
Managing Trustee Pacific Youth Foundation
Allan Young joined the Boys Club of Santa Monica in 1955. His father thought it would be a good opportunity to keep him busy, and toughen him up. In 1962 Allan was voted Boy of the Year and “won” the opportunity to start working in the games room the following summer. Allan attended Santa Monica City College and graduated in 1971. He then went on to attend Cal State Northridge and graduated in 1974. Allan continued to work at the Boys Club as he earned his higher education. In 1975, Allan married his wife Sally and went on to become the President/CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica in 1979, after serving as executive director at two other Boys Clubs.
After 47 years of service, Allan retired from Boys & Girls Clubs in 2010. During his career with the club, Allan’s name became synonymous with dedication, determination and collaboration. Along with successfully growing Santa Monica to a multi-million dollar organization, serving on BGCA Area Council, National Board of Association, National Program Association and as a member of BGCA National Pension Committee, Allan’s additional achievements within the movement include: founding chairman of the LA Alliance uniting 27 Boys & Girls Club Organizations representing 142,000 youth in Los Angeles County; co-creator of the McCabe Fellowship program in which experienced CEOs would help foster new leadership and mentor incoming CEOs; co-creator of the Leaders in Training program focused on training BGCA youth as future leaders within the movement; co-creator of the Super Resource Program in which Clubs receive a multitude of resources to expand their operational effectiveness.
Allan’s ambition extended internationally as he offered a lending hand to the growth of Boys & Girls Clubs in Mexico with fundraising and South Africa with executive training. Allan’s accolades include: Outstanding Executive of the Year, the Thomas Garth Leadership Award, BGCA Career Development Award, Pacific Region Horizon Award and the Keystone Contribution to the Profession Award for 35 years of service.
Upon retiring from Santa Monica, Allan started the Pacific Youth Foundation as Managing Trustee and has been able to continue his life-long devotion to Boys & Girls Clubs and improving the lives of youth around the world. Through its charitable gifts, the Pacific Youth Foundation aims to support Boys & Girls Clubs in the Pacific Region, and at the National level, in their mission to “enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens”. Through the foundation Allan has helped more than 60 organizations with strategic planning, board development, operational funding and program development.
Allan and Sally, have been an integral part of the Southern California community for over 40 years and are proud to have two children Aaron (1978) and Sarah (1983).
