2019 TEEN SUMMIT REPORT
This year’s Teen Success Summit was our best ever and we could not have done it without your support!
The Teen Success Summit this year had a new focus, format, venue and strategy to have our youth positively impacted for a great career and lifelong pursuit of education.
The Summit this year was tied to our Kollab workforce development program and the youth were pre-screened to ensure they would optimize the experience. The youth were asked to fill out a form ahead of the event that helped them identify their strengths, passion and interests to help them throughout the day.
What is Kollab?
Through career exploration, skill development and applied learning experiences, the Kollab program will equip youth to be ready for great futures. The Kollab program offers companies direct access to educate our youths about their philosophy, culture and opportunities with their company. The program also provides the company feedback and ideas from our youths. This program is where education and work experience intersect.
The Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs partnered with ABC7 and Los Angeles County Workforce Development Aging & Community Services, (both are represented on the Kollab Advisory Board). This partnership is critical in that it offers our partners the ability to tout their good work in these Los Angeles communities through media and digital content for major visibility and impact. The County relationship is vital so that our youth not only have access to the largest employer in Los Angeles but so that they are experiencing financial literacy through their (for many first time banking) and their understanding the value of a dollar earned.

What did the YOUTH LIKE BEST about the 7th Annual Alliance Teen Summit?
The format of having real life mentors and the stories that they shared of the trials and tribulations they faced. This provided insights on perseverance and following your passion in life. Moreover, being able to have the mentors sit with each table and share their experiences up close and personal was a major impact indeed.
Did the YOUTH feel like they benefited by attending the Teen Summit. If yes, please explain.
All of the teens that went with me had great interest in many of the professions that were presented and in fact, one of my female members changed her idea of her major after speaking to the mentors.
